Rules for the players

Players are not allow to discuss rake back at the tables. This can lead to suspension of the rake back program.
It is not allowed to poach players from one Poker Room to another. This affects the players in a way that will prevent them from signing up at more than one rake back program on the network. If you have received rake back from on Poker Skin on then network you are not allowed to receive (1.) deposit bonuses, (2) freeroll tokens, (3) rake back from another Poker Room on Merge Poker Network.
The cap is 30% to the players. Any affiliate offering more than this is either cheating you or violating the rules of the Network. Be aware!

How does is work?

You have found this site because you were looking for rakeback at the Merge Gaming Poker Network. Who is Merge Gaming?
Merge Gaming is a network which mainly consist of two poker rooms Poker Nordica and its motherbrand Carbon Poker.

Why no rakeback?
The network launched February 2005, where rake back wars was striving across many of the major poker networks such as Prima Poker, Cryptologic, Iglobalmedia (Party Poker's Network), iPoker, and Boss Media. At this time it was obvious to anyone working for operators in the online gaming that these rakeback wars was costing a lot of money and hurting a lot of networks and poker rooms. Therefore the decision was made that Merge Gaming, at that time called Poker.com, would not allow rake back but instead focus on generating a huge freeroll community where players get awarded with freerolls rather than rake back.

Why is rake back evil?
Rake back isn't necessary evil it just have to be controlled by the network owners otherwise it is impossible to make sure it doesn't get out of control. The problem with rakeback is that it was originally introduced and controlled by affiliates who gave some of their cut back to the players to convince them to play under their tracker. The problem with this method is that the players swicthed poker room within the same network several amount of times until they got a cut that wasn't possible to increase. From the players perspective this is good as a short term model, but in the long run it will ruin the solid networks. Why you may ask?

The reason is simple. The poker rooms focus on getting players from the same network to switch to their poker room, they do this themselves or have affiliates to do this for them. Offer a player 36% rakeback if he was getting 34% at another poker room on the same network. The affiliate who got the player to sign-up in the first place have thereby lost this player forever and won't be awarded for introducing this player to the network. The player sign up under affiliate A with no rakeback offers. The player is then later introduced to rakeback in the chat, over MSN, on an online website, a forum etc. and decides to switch poker room within the same network and signup through affiliate B, who carefully explains how to sign-up and get 30% rakeback. Two months later this player realize they can get 35% elsewhere on the network and decides to switch. The player will keep switching if they can increase the cut.

The poker room suffer but the network in general is also loosing
The problem is that it is the affiliates who control the game and set the rules. For many years the rules have been these: There ain't no rules! Greedy affiliates have kept increasing the rakeback cut and kept decreasing their own cut until they have eliminated the ability for anyone to make any real money. The network is not growing as all the poker rooms within the network sees the other poker room within the same network as the biggest competitors. This is a very bad situation. Instead of expanding the number of players the opposite happens. How come?

The reason is that the fish that were sent to these sites will run out of money, as the pro-rakeback players will destroy them. Those fishes were referred by old school affiliates or via offline or online marketing directly by the poker rooms. The poker rooms have to spend huge amount of money to attract that type of players while the pro's on the network is sucking them dry + asking for rake back.

Solution to this?
There is a solution to this and it that the rake back will no longer be controlled by the affiliates or the players but by the network owners. Rakeback or Cash back is simply a retention scheme similar to endless bonuses, monthly bonuses or other loyalty programs. Only difference is that it was introduced by the affiliates and controlled by affiliates.

The poker rooms that will survive will be the huge poker rooms such as Party Poker and PokerStars who deny rakeback and then the poker networks where the owners have set a very clear guideline to how the rake back will work and how people will be punished if they violate the terms and conditions.

It is getting more and more standard procedures but a lot of networks still have a lot of work to do if they want to clean up this industry.
